Greetings!
Since my little sister is back at the blogging, I figured I would copy and start it up too. It may not last long as my current efforts to secure a job overseas are in my favour. Making big life decisions I thought I was done with when I decided what university to go to after high school. haha. Little did we all know when you grow up you make them on a more consistent basis. And so the past week at church, Pastor Ross had such a helpful and insightful message on life; life issues, problems, "the will of God". So here goes my little summary:
Preferences - selection based on affection and personal desire
Preferences are based on personal prejudice, are made because of parents or family or sometimes there is no reason for it. Most often they are opposite of what the Bible says and are usually all about me. Clincher: if we ran our life based on preference we would fail NEED PRIORITIES.
Priorities - place greater importance and significance on some things more than others. If we put big things first, everything else will fit. Clincher: even priorities order our lives but crumble when hardships in life occur NEED PRINCIPLES.
Principles - fundamental truth or proposition that serves to govern our lives. Principles are strong and withhold anything and in scripture you can find them on any matter. Clincher: principles must run our life.
So we base our life on the principles of the BIBLE, then make priorities of those principles in our own lives for the current time and situations we are in, then we make further decisions based on our own personal preferences that have come out of those priorities. Principles make us children of God, preferences make us unique in that.
It's a good life lesson and based on this sermon I did a big of rearranging of my own life and priorities based on principles long forgotten or ignored.
Little shout out to PR for the great message!
Later days!
