A little breather

Greetings!

I was just looking back on this thing and realized that I haven't written on this thing in a long time. Sorry my loyal readers. Well 5 weeks of the summer are done and only 4 left after this one. We have had 3 junior high camps and 2 juniors camps. My favorite weeks were juniors 1 and junior high 2. I loved the girls in my cabin and other girls at the camp too. This week is family camp and then there are 2 weeks of junior high camps, 1 juniors, and 1 youth camp. I am working in the kitchen for these 4 days of family camp and then tomorrow until Saturday I have 3 days off. Everyone who works all summer for the 10 weeks gets 3 days off to do whatever. We have to be back on Saturday for a staff dev. day where we are going to Nanaimo to go swimming, eat pizza, eat ice cream, and chill on the beach. I literally mean chill too. It will be fun.

Tomorrow Lonnie and I are going to Vancouver to see Leia, spend some time on the mainland visiting friends, and then going to the BC Lions and Roughriders game on Friday night. We are super stoked for that. I have got to do more relaxing this week but it's more like the real world and I am not really looking forward to the fall. I already miss the campers and having every minute of every day planned out exactly where I should be. I miss interacting with kids all the time and being able to pour God's love into them all the time. Even being in my cabin (42) which is in complete darkness and super quiet, I miss. The cabin I am staying in this week is right by a lot of lights, far from the bathroom and right where everyone walks so super loud. I finally had a good sleep last night so that was good.

This last week of campers was a little trying on my patience and grace from God. We had a girl that had to be sent home for disobeying camp rules, another close call, a sick girl went home, and two had to go home early because they couldn't get a ride on the last day of camp. Last week was full of rebel kids and people wanting to couple up all the time and girls that were more concerned about their hair and make up then anything else. It was ridiculous. We even had to have a no mirror day just so that we could focus on inner beauty rather than outward appearance. I feel like the Holy Spirit finally got through on the last night though when we had a fireside sharing and the girls opened up about things that were going on at home and what they needed prayer for. I have kept in contact with many campers on facebook and through email so far so it's exciting. It will be hard to stay in touch but I hope that I can to keep building into them. We can plant the seed but God will water it.

The Lord has been at work here at camp in miraculous ways. We see His mercy, grace and love everyday. It's so awesome. He has been at work in me building up a lot patience, helping me help others, opening my eyes to see needs in other people. and being way more spontaneous. Like this weekend we don't even have anything planned yet and it's tomorrow that we need to know what we are doing. It's kind of fun. More like a free spirit than anything else. I have also not let things bother me as much and not stressed about things that aren't in my control. Praise God for being gracious with me and moulding me into someone that can be used for His glory.

I just want to tell you one thing about this last week. None of my girls wanted to play any of the wide games because they thought that they were too cool. But I had so much energy this week because it was so, so hot. Like 40 degrees or 35 plus every day. It was so good because instead of having my body trying to keep me warm all the time I just was warm and sweated a lot. I had sosososo much energy and was raring to go. So on the last day was Mission Impossible and I don't really like that game but as a counselor I had a map and so the kids on my color came up to me and asked me where to go. I asked them to go with me and so it ended up being me and these two boys named German and Hunter and at some points we had some other colored people coming with us too. It was so much fun. We ran lots, got caught, went to every station and got most of the plane ticket which is the thing we are trying to get. I loved it. It was pretty much a highlight of my week.

Well I should get going back to being sociable or just make some tea. LOL. Thanks for being such avid readers. Hopefully soon I will have some pics to put up. As for now, keep it real!
