Greetings!
As you might guess form the title, this month (no, not my blog this week) is dedicated to Leia. Every cent from my paycheck (other than rent, etc), all my free time, all my energy is spent on Leia and her wedding. I hope that I can make this the best month of her life leading up to her wedding. She deserves it!!! I am having fun with it though and really balancing my time a lot better than I have been.
I attended missionsfest on Saturday at Broadway Church in Vancouver. Unlike last year when I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and I was searching for something, I just wandered the halls and said hi to my camp friends. I had a wonderful chat with Alice and met up with a couple other people that I know from various places. I went to the youth rally in the pm where Will Graham, Billy Graham's grandson was speaking. It was fabulous. I went to the booths and saw a film on Israel from a more political mindset. The film was determined to portray Israel as it is to the people that live there and kill all our prejudgments and false ideas about the country. It was very enlightening and educational. I still really, really, really want to visit there! I always have!!! Did you know that they on of the top inventive nations in the world? They have top companys such as Microsoft, Google and many others and one guy invented the USB flash drive for computers!
They have this drive for business as when they are younger, they must join the Israel defense for 3 years and then are released to do whatever. Many learn so many life skills in the army that they are able to work hard and take charge of creating their own companies and merchandise. It also just made me realize how we need to work together with those around us. No matter the color, race, religion, ideas, values, etc. We are God's creation and each of us has His fingerprints on it. If we decide to hate or judge others, we are shaming Jesus as He was the one who "invented" us.
Missionsfest and the New Year has really opened my eyes to this time in my life as well. I am working at some less than important jobs yet I know that I am supposed to be here. I live in an apartment with many people who should just be desperate for a better life, one with Jesus! I work with many non Christians who are also searching. So this year is my missions trip. I wanted to go on a missions trip in the past to another country, but the needs of the people around me make this my mission field for the time being. Please pray with me that God will open doors for conversation about the Word, that He will give me opportunity to hear the needs of others and work to meet them with the Holy Spirit prompting. Also, I would appreciate the prayer for the summer. I have been humho about camp this summer, and although I have a year lease on my apartment, if God prompts me to go back for the summer, He will work something out.
On a lighter side, THE COWBOYS WON A PLAYOFF GAME!!!!!!! It's amazing and pretty much a miracle. I am enjoying my PVR so that I can tape the games and watch them later as I work Sunday afternoons. I also booked Super Bowl Sunday off of work. Haha!
Well have a great week! Later days!!
