Greetings and Happy New Year,
It's so weird to think that this is a new decade when I think back just 10 years earlier and I was celebrating Y2K with my relatives in Calgary at my aunt's house in a small hot tub. LOL. Good times, but wow has life progressed since then.
2009 was a fabulous year. It began with a trip to Saskatoon, then applying my brains out to marine biology/cruiseline jobs in January. I worked at Tim Horton's for a couple months and went to New York!! I became a lifeguard and went out to Camp Qwanoes for 4 months. Those months were extremely challenging yet I grew so much and was stretched out of my comfort zone. I experienced the Holy Spirit and the Lord in a most personal intimate way this summer. The fall saw me in a really low time looking again for a job, a place to live and somewhere to really belong. I spent so much time with Leia which I will be forever grateful for. We have grown sosososo close the past few years. I started at Starbucks and Cupcakes in November and moved to White Rock, BC. Another different thing was not going home for Christmas but rather spending it with Serena in Port Coquitlam. And I spent New Year's at Camp Qwanoes with my beloved friends.
Christmas day was so fun. We slept in, ate lots of food, went to the park, went to Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, ate popcorn, watched movies, opened gifts, went for a walk to look at lights. It was really fun to see her malaysian relatives experience their first Christmas in Canada with all the lights, traditions, turkey, etc. I spent Christmas Eve with my new good friends Doug and Kelley Stuart who are friends of Auntie Stacey and Uncle Troy. They are great people.
New Years was incredible. I am still so thankful that I am not living on the island as I just couldn't handle the ferry. 2 hours one way is way way too long. I got to catch up with my really good friends Leila, Karle, Matt, Liz and Rebecca. We mainly just relaxed, played some games, ate lots of food, had many worship sessions and sharing times, a huge New Year's dance party and fireworks.
Now I am back in White Rock looking forward to spring of 2011 when I head to Florida!!!! It makes work less mundane and gives me something to get excited about. I have many New Year's resolutions this year, however they are things that I just wish were incorporated into my life all the time. Lately I have been focusing on too many things and when I am not enjoying myself, starting to feel sorry for myself. I have commited myself to focusing wholly on my relationship with Christ. To dive into the word with passion and excitement and to pray without ceasing. There is so much hurt out there and to not be a part of it through prayer is not fulfilling God's will for my life.
I am really looking forward to 2010 and am excited to see what God has in store for me, this city, this province, the country and the world. His glory will shine through His people this year! I know it! So Happy New Year!!!
